Lastnight I found out about Lesleigh and Levi in New Orleans...what a releif that is. They made it ok even though they tried to do the right thing and actually help people. But as is often the case males wrecked things. I feel so incredibly fortunate that up here we don't have to deal with those killer storms...not to say Calgary is immune to flooding...not by a long shot. But chances are I'll be outta here long before this place ever floods seriously again. Plus I'm no where near the areas that normally get flooded.
Ok so onto something a bit more positive. Yesterday I started my renovations, ordered/paid for a pair of nice french doors, found a shower stall and got all the dimensions, got everything I need for the tiling. Today the real goal is gonna be to get the concrete base poured and try and find out if the shower stall in question can be broken down and packed into my car. Or perhaps my roomates...my seat doesn't fold down (shakes fist at Chrysler engineers).
So after some midnight car washing and some more measuring my roomate got all dressed up preitty like and headed across the street to "The Back Alley" . Huh...its a rather fitting name because its quite the hole inside but the reality is I don't wanna go someplace thats overtly nice if I intend on getting drunk and stupid. Huh well I can say I definetly got drunk but not stupid. I actually got incredibly damn depressed once the high went down. Fuck I miss home and everyone there, but this won't last forever. Preitty much my plan is to just work my ass off and make my home worth alot more with upgrades that are done my myself. But yah I always have a freak out like this everynow and then during weekends. Could have gone white water rafting (class 4 river, class 5 highest possible) but shunned it away in favour of house work. I feel like such a loser saying that lol. oh and I cut my grass with one of those slick push lawnmowers. I love the thing, plus its next to impossible to hurt one's self with it. Because well...me and lawnmowers have some history lets just say.
Till my stuff arrives from Ottawa I'm also sleeping on an airmatress in my house. Its so damn comical to me...here I am in this nice old 2 bedroom bungalow and I'm sleeping on a 36" wide camping matress. Meh...atleast the positive part about that is my bed is also a floating device. Here on weekends when it gets hot people go floating down the river in anything that will float. The water isn't deep enough that you need to worry. Thankfully the bi-laws here aren't so anal...oh and you can go fishing in that same river too...perhaps a combo of activities should be attempted by me. Its also a really good way to meet people (told by co-workers).
On Tuesday I move out of the 'Satellite' plant and start my training in 'Highfield'...which more or less means I'll be working on bigger (fuck yah) units that have cooling added into the heater packages. I've also got start bringing a camera with me to work. How many of you have seen a 2 million BTU heater roaring (literally) with a 6 ft wide flame that is about 5 feet long. I need to get some shots of me inside one of the fans that is literally big enough to stand in. Really cool...you see...this is why I know I'm a dork. I love what I do, I love big fuck ass machinery that does its job flawlessly. NERD!!!
